Turmeric Rice

How to make Turmeric Rice.

INGREDIENTS: Serves 4

  • 1 cup Basmati rice
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 ½ cup water

METHOD:

  1. Heat up a splash of vegetable oil or olive oil in a pot.
  2. Add the turmeric, paprika, salt and pepper, and sauté for about 30 seconds or until fragrant.
  3. Add the rice to the pot and stir to coat the grains completely in the seasoning.
  4. Add water to the pot, cover with a lid and bring it to a boil on high heat.
  5. As soon as the rice is boiling, remove it from the heat and keep it covered for about 10-15 minutes, or until all the liquid has absorbed.
  6. The rice grains absorb the water and finishes cooking when it’s off the heat.
  7. Make sure to keep the steam and heat in the pot by not removing the lid until the 10-15 minutes are up.
  8. Give the rice a stir with a fork to make it fluffy.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
