Cauliflower Bhaji

How to make a Cauliflower Bhaji.

Ingredients: Serves 4

  • 1 cauliflower (medium size)
  • 2 onions (chopped)
  • 3 medium potatoes (cut into small cubes)
  • 1 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup tomatoes (chopped/crushed)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger & garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 6 curry leaves
  • salt to taste

  1. Wash and leave the cauliflower florets to soak in water.
  2. Prepare the rest of your ingredients.
  3. Heat a couple tablespoons of oil in a large or deep pot, and once hot add the cumin and curry leaves to it.
  4. Add the chopped onion next and saute until the onion starts to brown.
  5. Add the ginger and garlic paste, coriander powder and turmeric powder next and continue to fry for a couple of minutes.
  6. Add the chopped/crushed tomatoes next.
  7. You may have to add a little water to the pot to prevent the mix from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  8. The cauliflower and potatoes go in next.
  9. Mix it well so that the florets and potatoes are covered in masala.
  10. Cover and cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes.
  11. Add the peas and mix well once again.
  12. Cover and cook for a further 5 or so minutes until the potatoes and cauliflower florets are cooked.
  13. Add salt to taste a minute or two before turning off the heat.
  14. Serve as an accompaniment to your meal, or have it with bread or chapatis.
  15. Enjoy!
